IT BEGINS!

The countdown is on. 3 weeks til I quit my job and go on holidays for 6 months!!! The Plan has been developed then revised, then further revised, then pondered upon, then revised again and is looking pretty good with a reasonably well developed plan especially for someone who is not really big on planning ahead!

I'll be booking the Madagascar ticket tomorrow and have a quote on a round the world ticket which I need to make a few minor revisions to.

The cost. Well, it costs what it costs. It will be a bit priceier than anticipated but what are you gonna do? Airfare is the killer. Flying around the world isn't as cheap as it was even just a few years ago, especially when you have specific dates and destinations in mind.

It's fun booking trips! But the logistics of a trip of this magnitude is a bit daunting.

Night Vision Golf

Although the night vision was working well, the long grass and non-glow-in-the-darkedness of the golf balls and general crappy shooting made night vision golf a bit harder than anticipated. Winner: Matt by 10 strokes.

Updating the blog/website

Just registered davegerhard.com domain name and am setting up the blog site to capture all the highlights of the upcoming trip. Hopefully I'll have everything up and running before too long but if not well it's a beautiful sunny day in southwestern Ontario and there's a fridge full of beer downstairs. I haven't been here during the summer since 2005 so I had forgotten how nice it is and how green it gets and how many mosquitos there are in the back yard.
